Marketing and Production Assistant Internship

Local letterpress shop and art studio is looking for a qualified student intern for the winter/spring semester. Duties can be tailored around the student’s skills and interests and may include any (but not necessarily all) of the following:
• Researching potential clients and markets
• Creating a monthly e-mail newsletter
• Creating content (photos, videos, text) for social media
• Maintaining a list of clients and contacts
• Organizing and ordering supplies
• Packing shipments
• Preparing paper and canvas for printing and painting
• Organizing wood and metal type
• Print production on letterpress printing press

Useful skills or experience include:
• Social media platforms, specifically Facebook and Instagram
• Mail Chimp
• Excel
• Photoshop
• Online retail platforms like Etsy and Big Cartel
• Creating photos and video with iPhone
• Familiarity with traditional painting and printmaking techniques

The student will gain experience in the following areas:
• Operating a small business
• Being a self-employed entrepreneur
• Marketing to wholesale and retail clients
• Letterpress production
• Organizing an art studio

Location: The studio is located in Tolono, so the intern must have access to reliable transportation. Some work may be done remotely.

Hours: 10 hours per week. Specific hours can be arranged around the student’s class schedule but must be sometime between the hours of 12 and 5, Monday through Friday.

Compensation: This is an unpaid internship.

Sales and Marketing Internship

Description: A local Scottish-style bakery is seeking an intern to support day-to-day sales and marketing initiatives. Credit and noncredit internships available. Compensation in the form of commission is possible.

Skills and qualifications: The ideal candidate will be pursuing a degree in a communication or business related field (public relations, marketing, advertising, etc.) and be able to work at least 10-15 hours per week. Volunteer/Intern Graphic Design Artist: Orpheum Children's Science Museum

Urbana Land Arts

Description: Urbana Land Arts is seeking interns to participate in creating graphic content for our 2014 Mobile Exhibition Series and the Heartland Pathway trail building effort.

The Mobile Exhibition Series is a six month program that will host 6 distinct artists and designers in ULA’s 21’ step van. The exhibition, as the name implies, will “open” at Urbana’s Market at the Square and continue at the [co][lab] in downtown Urbana. Interns would be responsible for creating a graphic identity for the exhibition series and public announcements for each of the six artist’s projects.

The Heartland Pathway trail is 4.5 mile nature trail in Piatt County. Urbana Land Arts is focused on promoting the trail as a destination and the stewardship of remnant ecologies there. We are in the midst of creating trail signage to be installed for the official opening of the trail in the fall of 2014. Interns would be responsible for creating a graphic icon for the Heartland Pathway and informational panels for communication to the public.

Community Center for the Arts (C4A), a 501(c) (3) tax-exempt organization, is seeking a graphic design intern to assist in the development of a promotional campaign to help raise awareness of our community-minded arts organization. The intern will work closely with the director and C4A’s development and marketing team.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist in designing clear and engaging graphic communications for print and web. This will include brochures, direct mail pieces, branded promotional items, website and social media graphics, posters, flyers, and other marketing material as needed.
  • Work closely with a project team of paid staff, volunteers and board members to translate concepts into marketing materials. 
Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in Adobe software, such as InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and/or other industry standard design and layout applications.

CU Woodshop Supply is looking for an intern to design a website for our new School of Woodworking set to open September 2012. This person needs to have experience in website design and possess needed skills in graphics associated with web design. This person also needs to have experience in using and incorporating social media like Facebook and Twitter as part of the website. We use Constant Contact as well and that service will need to be incorporated into the site. We also plan to film training and/or tool use demonstrations and need someone with the ability to edit and incorporate video’s into the site. Hours are flexible and it may not even be an option to work from home at times as well. Duties include:

The International Society of Arboriculture is a worldwide professional organization dedicated to fostering a greater appreciation for trees and to promoting research, technology and the professional practice of arboriculture. ISA has an immediate need for a Graphic Design intern in our Marketing and Member Services Department. The graphic design intern will create a variety of print and electronic marketing pieces, including but notlimited to fliers, brochures, advertisements, and Web site graphics.

Duties include:
  • Complete graphic design projects assigned by the marketing director.
  • Apply standard elements of the ISA style guide so as to maintain consistent application of the ISA visual brand.
  • Provide regular project status updates to ensure deadlines are met.

  • Communicate with printers and other vendors, as requested by the marketing director, to obtain bids for projects.
